ImageObject is a collaboration between Cdags.org and the Penumbra Foundation in NYC, taking the form of an annual exhibition and symposium. Entitled “Image Object”, the juried exhibition will showcase the forefront of contemporary daguerreotypy with the aim of propelling the genre forward in the art world.

The inaugural exhibition (IO-1) is being held April 2-16th, 2013, at the time of the AIPAD show in NYC and in the gallery spaces of the Center for Alternative Photography on East 30th Street in NYC. The event is being partly sponsored by the Archive of Modern conflict and on display are 74 recent daguerreotypes from 33 artists in 16 countries with a display of daguerreian technology. Cash prizes were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd artworks judged best in show. On wednesday the 3rd of April was the ImageObject symposium, a series of talks about contemporary daguerreotype genre.
